Born in Toronto (1942), Charles Pachter is one of the most collected and cherished Canadian artists. In both style and motif, Pachter’s uplifting images share characteristics with the titans of American Pop Art yet his voice is resoundingly charming, singular, and uniquely Canadian.
During the late 1970's and early 80's Pachter often depicted his friends in casual and lighthearted scenarios, , socializing and at . In this iconic print, a group of friends appear on a stylized/expressionistic landscape, realized on hill in a deep red hue.
In typical Pachter fashion, The background is left to our imagination, filled with colour and simple division lines. The seated figures scattered through the space seem to be in conversation, creating a friendly dynamic within this print.
